Macaframa Premier
So Zach, Lauren, Ahlee, Erik and I all piled into Zach's Camery and went to go see Macaframa.
And let me just say this... IT WAS AWESOME!
The film had awesome shots and overall great cinematography!
The riding was legit and best of all, John Cardiel the legend himself had a part!
Lots of people came out for this and I had the opportunity to meet up with old friends from the north Texas region: Denton, Dallas and Ft. Worth!
Other Austinites that made it out were JR, Moses, Cassie, Matt B., Annie, and others I can't recall or I've never met.
Baker and Zach Roth from San Marcos also made it out!
Here are some photos from the trip to Dallas and friends from the premier:
Going into lightspeed!!!
The view from "bitch seat"
We stopped at Spaceship Pegasus right outside of Waxahachie
On our way to have some fun at the spaceship!
We found some snow/ice... Not that surprising considering that Dallas got 12in last winter
A few of us managed to climb up to the top!
Erik and Ahlee being cold... actually, just Ahlee.
Posi jumps!!!
At the Angelika discussing the history of film.
Met up with the other Austin groups... JR was stoked
My friend Kevin from Denton! And yes, all Asian people know each other
Brice just moved back from Chi city!
Dave Munson!
Michael waiting for the film to start
Lauren has a lot more pictures on her camera... expect more soon!
Thanks Dallas for premiering and being home to Cosmic Cafe!
We had a GREAT time!

ripper
today my australian friend pronounced that she had found the collective noun (means 'more than one') for an armadillo was a 'ripper.'
this is what i imagined:
i got really pumped for a few minutes. i was going to start a team. i was gonna print jerseys and patches and stickers. then she explained that 'ripper,' in australian slang, means 'awesome,' NOT a 'herd of armadillo.'
an 'ark' is the proper collective noun for a herd of armadillo.
texas loves armadillos. here is another armadillo picture i like. a lot.
go texas!

Jonny Cycles
sadly is going out of business.
I'm sure a large number of fixed gear enthusiasts learned about his custom frames from the interview he did with COG Magazine about a year and a half ago.
His frame was the one with the circular cutouts in the top tube near the head tube.
Jonny Cycles made some BEAUTIFUL frames and priced them pretty reasonably compared to some of his competitors *cough, Vanilla, cough*
You can read about his reasons why at his blog.
With the faltering economy, its sad to see small business owners close up shop.
We hope he finishes out the year alright and wish him the best of luck!
Take care,

Trackstar
This is a little dated.
But Trackstar out of Brooklyn, NY just recently set up a section for their "shop worn" items on their webstore.
Its pretty cool...
They have a decent Campy crankset with a Sugino Grand Mighty chainring for $120.
An Umezawa track frame in decent condition for $350 (which by the way is what Keirin bikes should be worth! Who pays over $450for a USED Keirin frame anyway?! haha).
And a SICK Landshark for $500 (Landsharks are different because they're awesome!)

Skate Day
Sunday I went skated with my brother (Alex), J, and Logan.
My brother and I showed J and Logan a few of the spots we used to skate back in the day.
I actually ran into a few of my old skate buddies at a few of the spots too!
I took my camera along and snapped a few quickies:
J and Logan
Smith grind on the Austin High banks.
Logan with his "Stop Pre" shirt (go google it) or as J likes to call it: "Stop Pre-cum"
Support your local shop!
Had a good time. By the evening I realized that I need to pick up skateboarding again... Who wants to join?!
Take Care,
xChris Leex
