headwinds and hangovers

saturday, john higgs and i rode out to frankenbike #43 at ginny's little longhorn, home of local favorite, chicken shit bingo. we were recovering from friday's huge critical mass ride, sexy sunday's paul hughes' b-day afterparty, and then another birthday party for a close friend. needless to say we were a bit out of it, but after driving south to the super lame bike sale, we decided to make the 3-4 mile trek from john's to ginny's by bike.

here i am! on my eight speed! with my basket!
what a nice day!

super tough headwinds blowing directly south (we were heading due north) turned a 15 minute ride into a greuling 30 minutes (including a beer run) but once we got up there we ran into a lot of friends and some super great deals! i grabbed a set of 3ttt track drops and a black concor light for $15 and a 54cm ti/steel vitus frame to convert into a fixed gear for the lady friend. i've been looking up 3ttts and concors on ebay for a while and had eventually decided that i would never be able to afford either....

then we went fossil hunting on the colorado with last months fab friday champ, hydrogeoligist student, 21st street bike shop organizing, 1/2 man 1/2 amazing, will wolfe!

i just sat in the river (drinking beer) and hit rocks with a stick while john skipped stones. it was a perfect day.

happy texas independence day, y'all!
